Chiyozuru Korehide, birth name Kato Hiroshi (1874-1957)
A grand son of Kato Chouunsai Tsunatoshi VII, whose lineage has contracted as a sword smith for the Yonezawa feudal clan since the Edo era.
His uncle, Ishido Unjusai Korekazu succeeded Tsunayoshi, which Korehide later inherited.
Korehide was a rare craft person not only in the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa era but also the present.
He deceased at the age of 84 in Nakameguro Tokyo. |

Chiyozuru Sadahide, birth name Kanki Yoshiryo (1908-1999)
Born in Miki city, Hyogo prefecture.He became a pupil of his oldest brother, who was a plane black smith. When Sadahide was 18 years old, he encountered a plane made by Korehide.
At the age of 20, he left Miki to go to Tokyo to become a pupil of Korehide. Although Sadahide repeatedly tried to be accepted as pupil, Korehide paid no attention. When he was 21 years old, he was at last permitted to become a Korehide's pupil. In 1932, he returned home in Miki. He received a signature of "Chiyozuru Sadahide" from Korehide in 1949. Between 1951 to 1990, Korehide has received several prizes that would meet the expectation as the name of "Chiyozuru" in Miki. He also brought up the second generation of the master craft person of the present age.
Awards: "Yoshida Isoya Prize" 1976, "Labor Minister Prize" 1980, "The Medal with a Yellow Ribbon" from the cabinet office of Japan 1982, and many others.
